World Worble 3: Diplomacy fails

It may be of no surprise to anyone that the Great Debate did not happen and so the grand winner between good and eeeevil will never be known. Yet we should not fret as the war of skirmish continues with paint balls and stink bombs. Actually there were more stinkers than balls.

Whilst the combatants seem to be dropping like flies there still seems to be plenty of useless target to fire at. Example:

Rhetorical question: When have you stopped beating your wife?
Second rhetorical question: When are you going to stop supporting terrorism?

The enemy has been happily constructing millions of Straw Men as decoys the come and torn them all apart. Rip, rip, rip.
Tearing up straw armies looks very impressive but absolutely in effective because the real target is still standing there laughing their head off at your wasted energy.

Lesson 1 in all smear campaigns:
(Now this stuff I don’t usually give away for nothing so you had better take note)
Make sure the smear is even slightly believable. Otherwise you may as well say your opponent is an alien, illuminati, antichrist mass murderer. It is going to be believed with same enthusiasm. You need to mix your lies with a little truth so even your dumbest bot friend doesn’t feel stupid for believing it.

Lesson 2:
Make sure that you don’t inadvertently discredit yourself in the same smear. Happens all the time. What looks like a great witty insult to you may actually look like a desperate liar person to everyone else.

Lesson 3:
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Make sure that the person you are trying to smear does not have access to your dirty linen. Particularly if that dirty linen can be proved and independently substantiated. Think hard, is there anything about yourself that you do not want in the public domain? People in glass houses and all that crap...

So what we have now is not so much a cold war but a rhetorical one. A sham of a war that is little better that North and South Korea shouting propaganda over each other’s border. “Bla, bla, bla... I am not listening... and that is why you suck!”

The war on sanity continues.
