Sri Lankan Ceasefire Now Officially Ended
After two years of intense and bloody fighting taking over 2000 lives the Norwegian brokered truce between the Sri Lankan Government and the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) has been officially rejected by the government. This move comes as no real surprise as the cease fire agreement existed for months in name only.
How such a declaration will affect the fighting and casualty figures is anybody’s guess. The current Sri Lankan government is committed to defeating the LTTE on the battle field and recapture all territories they control. Whether this is possible has been debated intensely over media and in the Sri Lankan parliament. The propaganda war has intensified from all angles to the point that it is difficult read anything except a polarised version of events.
Recent fighting has been reported by Western Media sources as being fierce and costly for both sides.
Editorial Comment:
More often than not it is the civilian population who suffer when fighting intensifies.
I will refrain from further comment as I would see that as being inflammatory and counter productive to peace.

For the Sake of Argument
My Apologetics
I would rather be writing about a peace settlemet today but what can you do?
Report it as it is and let the world decide.
