You cannot hide what you are forever.

You cannot hide what you are forever.

I like random

I am never disappointed when it comes to the ability of people to find new and more creative ways to be nasty. People want stuff, things, money and some will do anything to get it. We look at greedy people with disdain because of the damage that they do in their selfish pursuits. Yet people who crave power leave a trail of destruction that can haunt generations. The desire for power is within us all but few are ruthless enough to follow through with their cruelest plans.

Look at any environment and we can find people who do anything and say anything to dominate. In prison we have rival gangs that fight for control pointless domains. In ghettos we have turf wars, in nations we have border disputes and on the internet we have flame wars. Each has the same purpose and that is to wield control over other people. Such people can be obvious like a bully in a school yard or less so, like the charismatic conman who fleeces old ladies of their life savings. In the educated sphere this can go to the point of wanting to project one vision of the world upon all others. We have odd people promoting odd ideals that would best be left to more brutal times. Yet it is the worship of brutality, cruelty and inhumanity that creates the controversial sensation. Why do people have this desire to dominate in this way?

We have a concept that seems to have seeped into society from several directions. It is the concept of collective guilt and innocence. In some cases people like to adopt collective innocence for their own group but individual guilt if one of them is indiscrete. They also like to force the concept of collective guilt upon those that they scorn whilst never allowing such people to enjoy any form of individual innocence. ‘One bad, they are all bad,’ is the common argument.

I have seen some pretty cruel things over the last few decades; none are more cruel than those that hide their dark plans beneath a veneer of sanctimony. How often have we heard the excuse for torture, murder and invasion framed in an eloquent rationalization? How often have we read bold faced lies and bigotries dressed up as victimhood statements? How often has mass murder been defended as the only rational course? It is no point arguing with hate because it always has a good excuse.

From time to time power hungry people need to put on a show and pretend that they are respectable people. We often read that evil only happens when good people do nothing. I am not so judgemental of good people because some people are masters at deception. They can lie through their teeth with utmost conviction of innocence. When they attack they will always frame it as self defence. When discovered they will always have an excuse and a smear campaign to confuse people and take attention away from themselves. Elections are filled with such techniques as each candidate makes cheap shots at each other and then let their minions leak misinformation to the press. They are able to maintain a clean public face despite surrounding themselves with people who would gladly kill for them.

We may wonder how such a person as Hitler came to power. Or how Mao got away with killing so many people and his body still rests in a monument of dedication. It is baffling how those that start wars can walk away and retire as if they had only played a game of chess. Name me any president who killed by a cannon ball? Power wielded incorrectly does not seem to have any punishment in this world.

People can be cruel, even on a personal level they can be cruel. They can want power and control of things that have no right to. Some people have no scruples in the way to attain this power.

It is disturbing to see ruthless behavior from one group of people one day and an act of respectability the next. And in this new innocence they make pleas to be trusted with reins of power. I would sooner trust a vampire than trust a person who desires power. I know what happens when such people are given a taste of it. They want more and they want to wield it in the most petty and vengeful manner. If a person has a list of enemies and no scruples, would you really trust them as the keeper of the rules? Not on your life.

I won’t mince words. If a person cannot run a discussion on decorum without resorting to smears, innuendo and personal attacks then they are fooling no one.

Thanks for your comments.

And the other poster boy is departing.
I do not like politicians much.

Why don't we just call a spade a spade and say that humans are basically self centred egotistical beings who are in something for one thing...their own self gratification.

Thanks for your comments.
I am reluctant to generalize about people.
Most that I encounter seem like fine individuals who do not try to tear others down.
No one is perfect but few are ruthless.

Damo,

Im sure you have heard it said before, but money is the root of all evil.

A long cry from the small villages and communities living in complete peace and harmony, thats for sure, without police, without policing, with very light taboos on sex and harsh taboos on murder.

That darned Coke bottle is to blame!*

Thanks for your comments.

I love 'The Gods Must be Crazy.'

BTW I think the full quote refereed to was:
'The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil.'

Probably does not matter. I am not very good at quoting.

Regards.

Aah, no, that actually makes better sense.

It reminds me of this other misquote about the truth setting you free. There are two things that must be done before the truth actually sets you free, but people always miss that too! Something about loving God with all your heart and following the rule or something ... but then i am the worlds worst quoter of all.

Maybe we could start a post called, 'How to misquote out of context.'

It would be an instant hit.

I will google the quotes and paste only half the sentence. Then you tell me what they should mean.
Hehehe.

I actually think today is a very brutal time. There always seems to be a need for competition at any cost whether it be between two thriving businesses, workers, sports teams or just sparring partners. Mud slinging seems to be oh so trendy in everyday life.

It is not only the politicians. You only have to watch the very popular television shows that invite audiences to join in the fun and kick someone off the show. Tearing people to shreds seems to have gained some sort of cult status.

And yes, I agree, it is all masked as something else entirely.

Thanks for your comments.

I always get caught on my throw away lines. However the moving finger having writ moves on....

In your face confrontation seems to be the fad on reality TV .
I am not a fan of such shows.
They seem to encourage power struggles and pettiness.

Yes..also known as a "having a pecking party"

I was going to put a [sic] behind your "indiscrete" usage, but on second thought the word "indiscrete" fits just as well as the word "indiscreet" does.

Do terrorists have pecking parties too?

I would rather peck than be pecked any day.
For whom the pecker tolls.
