We all have War Stories Where We are the Hero or Anti Hero
Given reason for reason we appreciate what is not just for the living but who we are. We are who we think we are based upon who we want to see as ourselves. The image of self and the self of the imagination are always fighting to exist against an image of nothing.
The sentence of who we think we are is carried out by us and against us where the experiences of life do act to hold us to account. Our only solution is to fight against adversity to salvage anything that can be used as evidence of a life well spent. A life well spent? As if something be purchased with the change that is left. A story, a fable, moment captured in time that does not fail to engage and show why such actions were taken by you.
As humans we justify our existence based upon the best story we have about ourselves. We can either hero or anti hero but never the villain. The villain is not a villain to himself even if he is not the hero. The villain can be a hard boiled anti hero who is fighting against bigger obstacles.
Only three conflict that matter the hero who is our self must face:
Man against Man,
Man against Nature,
Man against himself.
The story that is us plays out like a long saga where the ending of one scene is beginning of another, where one obstacle was only hiding the next.
Does it really matter what the truth of a life was as long as the story that is retained in one’s own head creates the reality that they were some kind of hero or anti hero. Either way it is the story that we are telling to ourselves.

Concerning the hero/anti-hero idea, that's sort of what I do when writing a book. There's always a little of me in all the characters except the villains (well, usually. In one book, the villain was all me!) It's a great way to get even with someone who has wronged you without them ever knowing it. LOL

Thanks for your comments.
No, it is not heavy nor depressing but just twaddle.
I figure that posts that require no mental energy from me get some of the best responses.
Much a do about nothing was the old Bards method.

Man as in Mankind yes.
I am rather partial to my reflection in the mirror.
