Well if you get caught perpetuating a Hoax just keep lying

May 8th 2008 12:08
I never mentioned your name Ruby.

However since you mentioned mine:

There are a few things that may help you out in your future cave trolling adventures.

Really Long Link

Sacked Wizard Hoax.

1 - Every story that you glean of the Internet is still there.

2 - Selecting the facts that suit your agenda is sloppy at best and dishonest at worst.

3 - You kid yourself if you think that such a biased misrepresentation of the facts should be ignored.

4 - The facts were easily available and you made no effort to get the other side of the story.

5 - Why is the word of one man better than that of two?

6 - Who else were you referring to other than Christians, Fundamentalist Christians or Conservative Christians? Wizardry is a specific term with specific Christian origins.

7 - I have provided links to a more balance and complete version of the story.

8 - You exploited your audience emotionally by peddling half truths.

Now a few concepts seem to be alien to you at this stage of your education.

One of which is any sense of ethical integrity to ensure that what you report is accurate and true.

The other seems to be the basic skills to investigate the story in objective manner. (A half-truth is still half a lie)

Lastly you seem to think that cherry picking evidence to match an agenda is somehow new and clever.

Reality check: It is not.

I am waiting for the penny to drop with a few people who have read your beat-up and realize that you were taking them for a ride. ( Some of whom should know better than to leap at a story that seems to good to be true. )

Oh, and incase you think you are the only person have your post exposed for what it is, here is a link of someone else who made a mistake.
Really Long Link
However in that case the person had the moral decency to accept that it was a mistake.

Yet I am not expecting the same level of integrity from you.

Straw man hehehe....

Another dumb image pretending to be ironic.

I included all the information I found that was available at the time. And yes I DID GIVE THE SCHOOL'S SIDE OF THE STORY!

The sources you gave links to do not indicate that the story is a hoax. You made that assumption because you just wanted to tear me down.

Who's taking who for what ride?

No Ruby you gave an edited version of the story with you own editorialized conclusion designed to exploit it for you own agenda. You are not the first on Orble to try it and you won't be the last but you got caught this time. The story was questionable and you published it as fact.

Now you can keep pretending that you were not caught out or you can go back to square one and work out where you went wrong.

Life is too short for me to prattle on about what you cannot see for yourself and I don't have time to give you your high school education in clear thinking. So I figure all you have left is denial and rage.

So go for it.

Damo, put your contempt for me aside for one minute and look at the facts. I published not one but two news stories in full on my blog and made a few comments about them.

Now, the teacher in question is sticking to his story and the the school is sticking to theirs. I was not selective in choosing what to print. I printed everything I read.

I researched that story before I printed it. i decided to blog on it because I thought it was ridiculous and funny and good time out from the other issues I usually write about. if you choose to see at as some sort of attack on Christianity, then that's your prerogative.

But I don't appreciate being called a liar. I am not.

If the teacher in question announces he was lying, i will update that on my blog, but until then, I stick by my post.

And please stop with all the passive aggressiveness. It's obvious and its embarrassing.

Back again I see.

You know your word would read less hollow if you had not already decided to create a post using my name in the title.

Let me see:
No Damo, It's Not A Hoax. Get Your Facts Straight And Quit Being Such A Sanctimonious Pain.

Yet I do understand why you may wish to start pretending that it was not a personal attack.

You know when someone attacks the thrust of you article it is called a public debate but when someone starts calling you a 'sanctimonious pain' it is called an ad hominem attack. I thought I would point that out to you since you seem to be confused about how to use even that basic term. I won't even begin with the strawman misuse as I am still trying recover my composure from laughing so much.

Passive aggressive? You just keep popping them out.

Good for you.

Now to business.

You printed 2 half stories with your own editorial and made no effort to read the whole story.
'The other side denies all claims but the hero of my story says they are liars' is not good enough

However you keep pretending that the story is exactly as you printed it.

Instead all evidence points to this being a disgruntled sacked worker feeding the media a 'witch hunt line.' And of course we should always believe the sacked worker.

The sacked teacher has no evidence at that he was sacked for anything other than serious violations in teaching. He was warned about thing live not following the school curriculum, leave the class unsupervised, unauthorized used of computers. No where has anyone from the school used the term Wizardry.

So who do you think is lying.
For you, because it suits you, it must be the school.
Now why is that?

But for the rest of the world:
No evidence and only the person who is sacked word for it.

The Hoax begins when the story is printed as being credible and true.
The second Hoax begins when people perpetuate the story because it suits their agendas.
The third Hoax begin when someone tries to claim that it is still shockingly true.

Shall we go on.
I don't think it is worth convincing you but I think people who do have some kind of professional attitude may work out what is going on.

I reprinted this from Tampa Bay's 10 News:

"Tampa Bay's 10 talked to the assistant superintendent with the Pasco County School District who said it wasn't just the wizardry and that Piculas had other performance issues, including "not following lesson plans" and allowing students to play on unapproved computers.

And i said this:

Phew! What a relief, wizardry wasn’t the only reason for his dismissal. Well, that's infinitely more reasonable then isn’t it? I mean if wizardry was the only reason, I might be fooled into thinking this poor man was the victim of a modern day witch-hunt.

Judging from that quote Damo, it would appear that Tampa Bay 10 news spoke to the school and they admitted wizardry was involved. Whether or not it was the only reason is beside the point. That was all the info that was given. That's what I based my blog on.

By the way a hoax is a fabricated story. like the one on the other blog you so thoughtfully linked me too. this story is not fabricated, that the original version of events is currently being disputed does not make it a hoax. i read several news stories on this Damo. I did not merely pass on an unverified email.
and nowhere did i read that the school denied the accusation. that denial did not come until later- after the fallout.

and the fact that you do not mention my name does not make your attacks against me any less personal.

if you were really interested in acting in the interests of truth you would have informed me of the latest information in the comments section of my blog. instead you chose to make a song and dance about it and try and convince all of orble that I am a liar. that makes you fair game for a counter attack.

Really, how long is this going to go on?

Ruby

Maybe if you spent more than the time it takes to copy the story from Richard Dawkins web site you may have worked out what was going on.

The information was all there and the man was sacked back in January.

Condemn me all you like but the fact were there and you did not even bother.
