Rival News Reports Spin the Gaza Crisis from opposite angles.
The two biggest serious news papers in Australia for serious journalism are The Age Newspaper and The Australian Newspaper. Rivals in many ways they often take different views on world events. The Australian News Paper is owned by Rupert Murdock and The Age is owned by the Fairfax Consortium. Traditionally The Australian is seen as leaning the right where as The Age is perceived to lean to the left. The both have their range of journalists that provide a rival viewpoint but the overall perception is that they have their leanings.
Two stories on the front page of the online editions show how the Gaza Crisis is being viewed. Both are factual but the selection of the lead stories is interesting.
The Age ran with a story titled: Israeli strike kills up to 45 in UN school
And the Australian ran with a story titled: Hamas terror: every Jewish child now a target
Both stories are true but in isolation we can easily view one story and have our emotions manipulated.
The perceptions that the first story creates is one of a callous Israel intentionally targeting UN protected schools where children are residing. The second story creates the impression that Hamas has engaged in child killing. Both stories on face value accuse the other side of acting like animals.
It is easy to see how such stories can be churned into propaganda to further the justification for the use of violence. Yet perhaps it should also be seen as a tragic situation where war has little decency and the innocent become victims.
We could also be wondering about how this situation can ever be resolved when each side sees each other as nothing more than child killers.
In the mad scramble for the hearts and minds of the international community we are perhaps being courted by two rivals using emotional manipulation to justify their stance. We can expect to see more bloody images and crying faces from both sides. We can even expect to see these images being fed to us but the professional propagandists from both sides. Perhaps they feel as if they are justified in doing this and frame it in term of self survival. However for those of us who are watching this slaughter with disbelief we are wondering when it will cease. Perhaps when both sides have lost everything and dragged as many innocent people as they can into their war zone they may be able to think about a cease fire.

Thanks for your comments.
I think that asking the Palestinians to boot Hamas is an impossible ask.
Hamas are well armed and took control of the Gaza Strip from their rival Fatah.
Which unarmed civilians group is in a position to challenge them?
The to add to the problem the city gets bombed by Israel.
It is a case of picking your poison.

Thanks for your comment.
You have convinced me with your logic.
I will now join my local La Rouche branch and set about countering the dark hidden forces that are driving this war.
Hehehe...
Who is this this time? The British Royal Family? The Beatles?
Sorry but if I wanted to join a wacky cult I would pick one that has a lot more free sex.
