srael is coming under increasing pressure to lift its blockade of Gaza's borders, in the aftermath of a deadly raid on an aid ship which was trying to run the blockade of the Hama-ruled coastal strip.
Israel is allowing the first batch of of humanitarian aid from the blocked flotilla into Gaza after checking it for weapons, and this morning said it would be deporting all foreigners held in the raid, which left nine people dead.
At the northern end of Gaza an Israeli air strike killed three Palestinians after rockets were fired into Israel. Earlier in the day the Israeli army said it killed two militants who crossed the border.
This is the reality of the siege that has been in place since Hamas took power in Gaza in 2007, and the raid on the aid ships that tried to break the blockade has put it into the international spotlight.
