My Dogma is better than Your Dogma.

April 28th 2008 01:08
My Dogma is better than Your Dogma.

I have a pet dogma.
I raised it from a pup.
It walks around with me all say and I hardly notice it at all.
Yet if it plays up too much I slap with a rolled up newspaper on the nose.
Then it just whimpers for a while before going back to its own happy Dogmatic self.
wolf
Dogma? What dogma?

They say that a man’s best friend is his dogma and I suppose that it is true. What would stay with you after all the abuse you give it? What else would wait by you patiently as you try to solve the great mysteries of life? What else will defend you when you feel threatened by more dangerous dogmas? My dogma is so brave that it would take on a whole pack of wild dogmas if it had to. He is a very good dogma and I am not ashamed to say so.
antichrist
If they called him Guy Forks why does he only carry knives?

Yet the other day I ran into some controversy about keeping dogmas. It seems that my dogma was heard barking at night and several of the neighbours complained. When I pointed out that their dogmas also bark at night I was told that they don’t have any dogmas. ‘So what is all the dogma like barking?’ I asked.

‘It may sound like barking to you but to us it is a beautiful song because we don’t have dogmas and therefore they cannot bark.
So I was to keep my dogma quiet because it was interfering with the sound of all the other dogmas (that they insist are not dogmas) from barking at me.
hmmm
Whooo Hoooo!

I think that will let my dogma roam free so that he can go where he wants and bark when he wants. Then I will say, ‘But I don’t have a dogma any more, it must be someone else’s dogma that is bothering you so much.’

I love my dogma.

My dogma is very well behaved. But we do have a dogma or two that run around the neighborhood, barking at everyone they see. Rumor has it that there are a few dogmas that even bite!

Great Post, Damo!!

Damo,
so well said, and in such an artistic way...
...unlike some others here, whose expressions are less demanding on intellect...and more autistic, than artistic, shall we say...

love the images too!

and "forks"....

Sometimes they bark at nothing.

What's your Dogma barking at Damo?

But have no fear my friend, your Dogma is the best here.

Not least because you disguise it so well.

Thanks for your comments.
Some people have pet dogmas and won't admit it.
Yet when they train them bark loud and hard at anything that moves.
They even reward the dogma for going into other peoples yards and barking at them.

A public blog does not a yard make. Fair game.

But yeah, people that won't admit they have a Dogma. Don't they just annoy you? I mean what, are they ashamed of their Dogma or something?

Or do they just think their opinions will have more clout if others don't know that they are actually the opinions of their Dogma?

What clever, dishonest people they are.

The best things about glass houses Damo?

You can see straight through them.

I keep forgetting that sometimes when I go wandering some stray dogma may try to follow me home.

Which makes me wonder if this dogma is just as unwelcome where ever they go.

The problem with idioms is they can flung around like doggy do and with just as much value.

I guess there is only room in your life for one Dogma right?

Too bad you keep it locked up in the closet. Be true to your word, let it run free, then everyone will at least know where you are truly coming from.

But if you are going to insist on attacking people covertly, don't be surprised when they bite back.

Clever, clever boy.

What is the matter Ruby?
Can't you look after your own Dogma?

You lost me on the covert stuff.
All I can see is someone yapping away and pretending that they have no hidden dogmas.

Haha. Turned the mirror on yourself then?

I've never kept the basis of my beliefs and opinions a secret Damo. You do and then have the nerve to claim "impartiality'? What an utter hypocrite you are. A hair's breadth from being an out and out liar.

See you around the comments.

I not sure what you are looking for but I am sure that reasonable discourse is not one of them.

I am sorry you mistook me for a doormat but that is your mistake.
And since your moods seem to swing all over the place without any self control I can only say one thing.

You have my pity.

Comment by RubySoho

April 30th 2008 08:10
Thanks, but you can keep your pity or save it for someone who is as stupid as you think I am. Ad Hominum attacks Damo? How very ho hum of you.

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to go post a picture of a fetus, call it "non-negotiable" and then come back and accuse others of being Dogmatic.

Hasn't your glass house shattered by now?

I think that it would take for too long for me to tell you where you are wrong about the proper usage of logical fallacies. Suffice only to say that misusing them only makes you look like complete idiot.

You obviously have some manic issues in your own mind, none the least of which is paranoia.

Now there must be a reason why you have become obsessed with me but as far as I am concerned the fascination is not mutual.

Yawn. Calling your opponent an 'idiot', 'paranoid' and 'obsessive'? Have I stumbled onto that 'political' blog by mistake?

Hypocrisy bothers me Damo and you have it in spades. And if you really thought I was all you accuse me of, you would have stopped replying to my comments long ago.

Only in part, D. Ruby seems to show up with annoying frequency on my blog, too. She imagines a bone and gets her teeth stuck in it. While her debating ability is rather limited, her capacity to take offense in boundless. Maybe someday she'll visit you and you'll get a first-hand view of her antics. Or maybe you'll get lucky.

Bradish is there anyone on Orble who hasn't shown up on your blog in order to tell you how ridiculous your posts are?

Is there anyone on Orble you haven't insulted?

My presence on your blog has to do with the annoying tendency you have to post lies and fallacies and call them facts.

My presence here is between Damo and myself. If he wants to fill you in that's his business but stop pretending this has anything to do with you. It doesn't.

I have no idea why you are here and why you have decided to get personal.
You are the one who is leaving nasty comments on a blog that I moderate. I have not done this to any blog that you moderate. So what is the issue in your head.
Please tell me because I have absolutely no idea why you are here and what you want.
You lost at 'glass houses' and the misspelling of 'ad hominem'.

I my posts annoy then don't bother reading them.
If you have a point to make other than you hate my guts then spell it out so that everyone can work out what you are on about.

Comment by RubySoho

May 1st 2008 05:21
Okay, well firstly I wouldn't go around pointing out other people's misspellings since your own posts and comments are littered with them but anyway, no big deal.

When that whole TBT post exploded you were more than a little nasty, condescending and personal in your comments to me. I seem to remember you calling me a hatemonger and accusing me of "forcing my pro-choice dogma down other people's throats". Yet you had no qualms with TBT and everyone other pro-lifer on that blog forcing their anti-abortion dogma down my throat and anyone else's who happened across that blog. The more I tried to engage in "reasonable discourse" with you the nastier and more aloof you became.
I was still very new to Orble when all that viscousness went down and was utterly unprepared for it all.

It upset me but I got over it and never planned to address it again, until you posted this article and I just couldn't believe that anyone as obviously dogmatic as yourself could have the nerve to cast judgement on others.

I left a comment, you responded, it went back and forth a little, big deal, that's what happens on blogs. I don't "hate your guts', I am a little bemused however at how you can attack others so mercilessly but balk when someone does the same to you.

Do I think this post was about me? No. Did it remind me of the way you treated me? Yes.

So you are here to settle a grudge that you have had from a post long gone and buried. Now you want to drag up past he said/she said nonsense and I do not.

Here is a reality check for Ruby.
There are 4000 bloggers on orble and I do not consult with any of them before I write a post. Nor do I intend to in the future.

This is a post about words and the definitions that people force on them. If you find some personal and cryptic message in it I am not responsible for that.
Every other reader saw it for what it was.

Comment by RubySoho

May 1st 2008 08:07
No not settle a grudge, just inform you that you are being a hypocrite. Who's asking you to consult with anyone before you post? I've already said I didn't see a personal message there for me.

You can write whatever you like, we all do. That's why we are bloggers. I certainly don't advocate censorship. But comments are there for a reason.

If you don't appreciate them, disable them.

Or ignore them.

I get it.
You don't hate me just to deliver your judgement on me as person

But please keep commenting Ruby I am so fascinated by your obvious lack of hypocrisy.

I mean your education is obviously vastly superior to mine and you must surely be the enlightened one who cannot possibly be mean, vindictive, nasty and petty.

You must have the powers of a god to go through your life with the ability to have so few faults and the ability to see the faults in others so well.

I am impressed and I bow to your superiority.

But please tell me more of what is wrong with me I am eager to learn.

Well it's about time.

Haha. At least I finally got you write proper responses to me, if nothing else.

Has this just become a battle of who is going to have the last word? Oh well, I'm sure it's to the amusement of everyone else at the very least.

I must say, that's the most emotional response I've ever seen you give to anybody here. I'm quite flattered that it was me who able to elicit it, though I am sure it was not intended as such.

I don't remember saying anything about anyone's education though...?

Goodnight Damo, and remember: every thing I have written here, well it's only my opinion, and like everyone else I am entitled to it. Even if you don't think I am.

I don't think I have said anything that anyone shouldn't be able take in their stride. But whatever, this has gone on too long already. Just keep doing what you do, everyone else seems to lap it up.

You have come to my site and posted your unprovoked insults.

Who are you to call anyone a hypocrite?
Just because someone taught a new word it does not mean you know how to use it correctly.

I figure that you are one of those wonderful types of people who cannot stand the thought of anyone disagreeing with you.
I also figure that you see me as a threat to your agenda.
So you have decided to start attacking me personally. Not just here but on several posts.
The Jedi Post is a good example of you trolling. I have others.

Yet I was not born yesterday and I do know when some unscrupulous pretender is trying to hijack my blog.

So please don't start blubbering and crying about how you are some kind of victim as it does not wash.

Now I don't get angry but I do have a limit to my patience with absolute mind numbing stupidity. I don't have time for it and the one thing in life I do not care about is what you personally think about me. I have been hated by much better people than yourself.

So please keep trolling away.
Then cry victim when people refuse to be your doormat.
It is such a dignified way to carry on.
