The Greatest Debate in Orble History is coming : David Verses S L Bradish

Myapologetics Presents

The Greatest Debate in Orble History
This is the battle that we have all been waiting for.
Lady Henietta Muddington (aka David) verses SL Bradish.

Who will win?
Who will out wit who in this intellectual Olympic even?

This is a true battle where the two opponents enter into the ring and defend their intellectual position.

Both have agreed to debate in the once in a lifetime event.

A properly refereed debate where who knows what each combatant will bring to answer the most import question:

Heroes.

Watch this space for more news about the debate.
The combatants are now in training mode and eagerly anticipating this true battle of wills and minds.

Remember this is not a joke and will be taking place.
David verses SL Bradish.

If you see one debate on Orble this year, see this, because you may never see it again.

Thanks for your comments.

Yes this is definitely true.
I had confirmation from both SLB and David.

After this even I may actually gouge my eyes out because everything else on Orble will seem bland.

Entry will be free.
Participation will be for the combatants only because as the referee it will be my duty to ensure that it is fair fight.

SLB
Thanks for keeping across this.
I will negotiate a date and time for the event to maximize the audience for all parties.
I will also present the rules of the debate to both parties for their approval.
This will happen sooner rather than later.

As I am now in referee mode I will wish you both good luck.

Hey Damo

ahhhh I wouldn`t miss this one... ring side seats too! Normally I manage to miss all the heated excitement - not quite the same watching the match recorded when you missed it live!

I`ll bring my encyclopaedia`s to dodge all the blood and sweat and letters that are sure to follow.

Let the games begin!

Thanks for your comments.

Since I am the referee I will in the centre of it.
I can feel your excitement.
This a rare event.
Not to be missed. Tell your friends.
I feel the intellectual testosterone building up already.

Apologies from Myapologetics.
The error has been fixed.
Let me know if there are more.

David,

Do you have to be serious?
Hmmm?
I think too many people on Orble take themselves far too seriously and overrate their own importance.

That being said you can enter the debate with any attitude you like. However what would you like to remembered for in this epic debate. Delivering a timely pun or delivering something that would make all of us sit back and think? Done in a witty manner is fine.

The subjects is Heroes.
Do you have any and are they worthy of you attention?
How would you defend them against the accusations that other may fling at them?

It is up to you.
Yet it is up to the readers to decide who they think has the most compelling argument.

That is something that will last long after the question of popularity and loyalties are lost in history.

I am happy to be hosting this event because it offers a chance for people to display their skills beyond the usual long winded diatribes that Orble is normally flooded with.

I am looking forward to it. May others make rule suggestions? If so, I just have one. Will the participants please not using cute nick-names for the candidates or other writers? Is Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Obiden, Bill the Zipper, etc. necessary; in my opinion this cheapens the debate positions.

I have asked that the practice be stopped and wrote elsewhere,

Let’s get over the name garbage once and for all. Or be consistent.

Governor Palin’s middle name is Louise, obviously because in the movie, Thelma & Louise, Louise kills a man and then embracing her girl friend, commits suicide. Her husband, Todd, has a middle name also: Mitchell. He was, no doubt, named for Sharon Mitchell, a well known lesbian porn star whose claim to fame is an ability to perform acts that would require a “mature” tag on this comment.

By the way, First Dude (his expression) Todd was, from 1995 through 2002, not a registered Republican. He was registered as a member, and was active in the affairs of, the Alaska Independence Party which advocates a state vote which includes several options, including increased state autonomy, territorial status, becoming a separate nation or commonwealth state, the possibility of joining Canada.

The founder of the party, Joe Volger, on the party’s website, is quoted: "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

And this all makes as much sense as repeated use of Senator Obama’s middle name!

No sense, whatsoever.

Thanks for you comments.

As explained earlier. This is a debate between David and SLB.

I will create a separate post for those who would like to comment on the progress of the debate. However once the debate forum is set up only 3 people will be allowed in.
David (Lady H) SLB and myself.
Everyone else will be deleted.

Since I am in referee mode until after the debate I cannot pas comment on anything written in the past that may prejudice my independence.

The debate will go ahead and we shall all see who can really put up a compelling case.

I want these candidate to scare the bejeezus out of the whole of Orble with their knowledge on their subject. That more than anything will have people remembering this and talking about this for years to come.

Damo,

I'm already ready to debate the fact that SLB chose the topic, and instigated all this. (I know I should be reseraching heroes, but I can only be true to myself. I apologise in advance for spending the last few days researching why debaters want to choose the topic of debate and not leave it up to the moderator).

Can you have a pre-debate-topic debate? Where we have a debate over who should choose the topic of the debate? Or would that be too much subtext for most (some) people on this site to understand?

I'm glad the masses are getting interested. There is nothing like a mass debate.

Thank God (whoever God is) that you are moderating this debate. Otherwise it might just get totally out of control.

Na, in all seriousness? I'll do my best Akela.

David

Thanks for bringing your concerns to me before the debate gets under way.

I will clear up any misunderstanding that I can as they arrive.

Firstly I was the one who suggested that you both debate.

I offered a list of suggested subjected which I considered may be appropriate.
SLB suggested 'Climate Change'. I made the recommendation that it was possible a subject that you may have little interest in debating. Thus become a very dull debate.

SLB then suggested Heroes.

I took that suggestion to and you accepted it as the topic of debate.

You accepted the subject matter and the challenge based upon those conditions.

So shall dispense with the pre-debate conditions and focus upon the subject of the debate.

I will create post to outline the rules of the debate.
Which require both parties to ackowledge.
Then the date and forum will be created where I will be waiting.

The two challengers go in and put forward their cases, rebuttals and summaries.

May the sharpest minds illuminate the whole of Orble as they attempt to illuminate each other.

Good Luck.

One question:

Heroes what? Heroes how? Do you mean, what defines a hero?

Are they dissecting a hero?

Debating about who the contestants' heroes are?

What's the subtext here?

Oh, I will definitely be on hand! It would be so fine to see a real debate after all of these blogblusters lately.

Comment by Natalie 2

September 14th 2008 20:26
I can't wait, should be very entertaining. However, I'm with some previous posters here in asking..Heroes what? Are they going to talk about who their Heroes are, and then debate the validity of the choices each have made? I'm curious about what kind of an actual debate that would create, if any. I'll look forward to seeing the details fleshed out.

Comment by Lady Henrietta Muddling

September 14th 2008 20:45
Damo,

This is why I'm glad you're the moderator:

You accepted the subject matter and the challenge based upon those conditions.

I can't argue with that. I did. I'll just await the rules.

I am glad D Armenta and Natalie brought up the aforementioned points about the specifics of the debate.

If I look like losing does this debate, will it have an 'email a friend' option? If so? I'll be emailing D Armenta. I promise I won't give her the password to my blog so she can argue for me, okay?

Thanks for your comments.

The title is Heroes but I have not restricted the subject matter down to the micro level yet.

The beauty of that is both parties have to try and guess what line the other person will party will take. This means they will have to come well prepared incase the debate goes out of their comfort zones.

Definitely a blog buster as you say.

You be the judge.

The bottom line will always be why should any person subscribe to your viewpoint?

Thanks for your comments.

Yesterday Myapologetics celebrated its 2nd birthday and I could think of no greater present than this debate to celebrate the event.

With regards to the rules of the debate, I will post something tonight after I get home.

If both parties (I repeat both) need further restrictions on the subject then I will help but otherwise this is a white room debate. Anyone can argue over a point but to build a case from nothing takes real skill.

David
Would like to buy a word too.

Damo,

This point you made to Tracy:

as each opponent sizes the other up.

Please don't tell me I have to work out how tall SLB is Or how much SLB weighs?

Anyway, it doesn't matter. I went out and bought a slingshot and am reading up on the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. I'm just going to sling pebbles at the keyboard and whatever comes up, comes up.

I'll leave the rest up to God.

More than fun.
It is the main event. The Circus Maximus.

Kleo
When the drums stop the attack begins.

Bryn
Rumble in the Orble Jungle.
I may steal that one.

Carl Carn
All bets require a 10% fee to be forwarded to host of the event.
Cash only.

Lula
Make heaps.
And bring a few beers.

Louie
Unfortunately Anon will not be attending.
Only David and SLB will be able to fight.
I will personally delete anyone else who enters the bout.
That will made clear in the rules.

David
Like all good matches.
You will need to know if you are ready.
Have you done you training?
In this battle God has already purchased tickets for the ring side seat. I am sure Lula will share the pop corn with him.

MNG
I am not sure about the jelly.
You will have a ring side seat.
Bring a few stubbies.
The referee can get thirsty from time to time.

Tracy
Popcorn and choc tops?
If you have stall I promise to take a reasonable commission.

Lily
At the end of this battle you may never know.
Golf may seem dull afterwards.

KylieW
I could not agree more.
I am so over the US election debates.
This is much better.

Woah, what a build-up!
I'm a novice at all of this but i hope that the hype lives up to the sabre rattling!
Should I know about previous jousts?
Will the combatants be honourable in their quest 4 victory?
Will the voyeurs who salivate at the cut and thrust of the battle, recognise that they are complicit in any fallout?
Other than that..I'm fascinated.

Ooh I think I read through this comments list in record time ... so with all my personal questions already answered and debated by you all, I shall make my way to my seat... and a thanks to both competitors for being good sports in offering us this once in a lifetime opportunity to be ringside at an event which is clearly more important than the US elections in deciding the future thoughts and lifestyles of many great nations...

It has been a long time coming, I agree and I can think of no better moderator.

I will set up a separate post for a running commentary if required. But I would need someone from the SLB and David camps to balance out the comments.

It may be too hard to find a neutral.

Thank you for your Number.

The actual Number that was emailed to fellow Orbler was number 6.

SLB is closest so therefore
David will make the first opening address.

However when it comes to the question time
SLB will go first.

Since both of you have provided number it means that you both accept the conditions of the debate.

Good luck to both.
I will announce the date and time asap.

Just so you know, Damo old friend--when it comes to a debate I am one impartial m*********er.

Each has their strong suits--but being completely impartial on my part I'd have to say my money's on David, if he can stay focused and not get sidetracked.. ..

..though if anyone can sidetrack someone in a discussion it's SLB.

I'm not impressed at having to go first. But I am excited.

Is my opening address alllowed to be 100 pages long?

Comment by Damo

September 17th 2008 08:17
DA

Impartial is matter of contention.
Some consider impartial as favoring their side and having no part of the other.

Mrs M

It outa be Double Plus Good,

David

You sellected the number one.
Of all the numbers to select you picked the one with the highest probability of not being selected.

Anyway It is balanced off with the question time allowing you to have the final Answer.

Six of one , half dozen of the other as far as I can see.

100 page answers will be accepted but try to remember that cognitive level of your target audience. I may appreciate it but would they?

If people stop reading after page x then what?
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Good luck.

Comment by D. Armenta

I've captained three undefeated debate teams and I always pick the hardest side to debate, no matter what my personal beliefs might be.

How much more impartial can ya get?

Besides, in spite of the several times I've mixed it up with SLB, I never hold a grudge. Too much effort. Best of luck, SLB!

Hey David--I'd appreciate it. 100 pages--the time-tested debate method of filibustering. Go for it!!! Now quit bitchin' and start writin'.

I can't wait...
