Racism has became more and more of an issue, within the past 50 years in China, due to influence of the Chinese communist party. Here, in this video, an American guy, talk about, how China gone from the most anti racist and most tolerating country throughout its entire 5000 year of pre communist history, to one of the most racist modern countries in the world, after the communist took over.
Shou-Fan, the girl who is talking on this clip is from Brazil
(This is the transcript, translated to English)
Host: It is very difficult to tell. Just like Shou-Fan there. If she don't tell people she is from Brazil, people might even think she is, China's Woerwa Tribe.
Other Guest:: Really look a bit like it.
Host: Did anybody ever made this mistake before?
Shou-Fan: Actually, at Taiwan, everybody think I am an American. And when I am on the subway, or anywhere, there will always be so many children around me and the children's mother will be around their children and then they start pushing their mum and say "mum, quick, there is an American, practice English with her." And the mum look so scare and the kid would say "Mum don't be scare." (Shou-Fan made an awkrad impression on her face) They all think I am an American.
Host:: Does that make you angry?
Shou-Fan:No, but I think...Why do they all think I am an American? I am from Brazil. I kind of think, this thinking from Taiwanese is kind of stupid.
Host:No, its not stupid, but it is very difficult to tell.
Shou-Fan: No really, there is once, I was on the sub way's elevator and an old lady ask me where am I from and I say "I am from Brazil" and the grandma say "Brazil, where is Brazil?" and I say "It is in South America" and she say "Isn't it at Boston, America?" and I say "no, no" and the grandma say "I am sure you have mistaken, I am certain it is at Boston." and I said "Brazil is a country" and she say "no, no, no it is in the United States." it is like, she think she know more and is so certain of it.
Host: That is funny, how did the old lady know about Boston?
Shou-Fan I'm not sure, but, it is because of this (Shou-Fan lifted up a clip board, with a earth drawn on it) this is the world map into Taiwanese's mind. This is Taiwan (pointing at the map of Taiwan on the clip board) and the rest of the world is all part of the United States (pointing towards the rest of the earth on the clip board)
Host: They think the rest of the world is all part of the United States
Shou-Fan: True, a lot of people from Taiwan are like this
Host: In the older generations' mind, the United States is the top dog. Sandra, you are from Britian, what do you feel about it?
Sandra: It is kind of true, they see a white person, their first assumption is that you are an American. That is the first assumption that comes to their mind. The last time I was on the taxi and the driver say "Miss, you are a foreigner right? American" that is nothing I get this very often, people look at me and say "You look really like a white person."
Racism has become more and more of an issue in China within the past fifty years, since the Chinese Communist Party took over.
While, most people from China denires it. All evidence point its fingure towards the Chinese Communist Party, to be the main cause of increase in racism, in China.
Traditional Chinese ideology has always been anti stereotyping and anti racism. Anti stereotyping and anti racism ideologies are also strongly supported by Buddhism ideology and Confuscious ideology.
So, in relatioship to race, China use to be completely modernized throughout its 5000 years of history. However, after the communist took over, either directly or indirectly, racist ideology were been taught to its people and in school.
Just like in many racist countries, the communist declare on the idea of race and set up the idea of a Chinese is suppose to be of the Han Chinese race. Similar to how the dominate ideology in Israel is that an Israelian must be Jewish.
While, most Chinese have insist on the good old fashion Chinese conservative ideology of anti stereolyzation and not to make determination on a person via race, the influence of Communist racist education, can still be seen.
When a black Chinese girl from Shanghai, Lon Jing, appears, in a Chinese reality show "Go Orient Angel" there was racial attack made against her, by some Chinese on the internet.
This story got into the CNN. When this CNN news report, was been put on youtube, while the majority of Chinese from China condame, the racist Chinese for their behavior and ensure the world that most Chinese aren't racist, on the comment section. A small handfull of the Chinese from China, further attack this black Chinese girl, base on the colour of her skin.
With nothing better to do, I launch attack back at those racist. These are some of the conversation I have with one of those racist.
The original conversation is in Chinese, but I translate it all into English
The racist guy's user name on youtube is xuzheng712
My Youtube user name is juiweiYang2000
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
She's a nigger. She's not Han Chinese.
Racist guy xuzheng712 say
You're garbage
Racist guy xuzheng712 say
nigger
me juiweiYang2000's response:
A nation is a massive tribe who have a piece of land and use this piece of land as their home. What does the colour of a person's skin got anything to do with determine whether a person is a tribe member? Just like determine whether a person is a member of a baseball team, it got nothing to do with he/her race. Even if she is a "N" and not a Han Chinese, so what? (I decided to use the N word, as a manner to launch attack against his comment, of criticizing her race, in his own game.) Stop embarassing all Asians with these comments of your's, everybody in the world can see this.
racist guy xuzheng712 say:
You are right, a nation is a big family. But she is black, as for me, I am like any other Chinese, got not black blood in me. Black people aren't my family/ Chinese=han Chinese
(and because earlier in response to this video, I also mention the fact that Taiwan is a multiculture country, where we the dominate race "Chinese" only take up 75% of the population. I know, because I am from Taiwan and unlike China, we are not influence by communist education, so we are anti racism, just like all Chinese use to be throughout the past 5000 years. But, in response to this statment the racist guy xuzheng712 said)
Taiwan is the territory of Han Chinese, other race, get the F out!!!
(You can image, how angry I am, after reading these statments, so in response I wrote)
me juiweiYang2000's response:
Who say only us Han Chinese can be Taiwanese? You and your fucked racist ideology piece of shit, don't you dare discriminate against our Taiwanese brother and sisters, who aren't Chinese.
me juiweiYang2000's response:
It is such a dishonor to be the same race, with a racist piece of shit like you. Can somebody please tell me, this fucked little racist piece of shit ain't a Han Chinese, ain't a Chinese, ain't an Asian and ain't a human, but an alien from another planet. I don't even want to be the same speice with this piece of shit.
me juiweiYang2000's response:
If your little sister is adopted and is black, isn't she your family. If your wife is white, isn't she your family?
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
You Han Chinese from Taiwan, are traitor of the Han Chinese race. You allied yourself with foreign race, against your own fellow Han Chinese.
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
She is not the same race as me. I am the supporter of racial ideology
me juiweiYang2000's response:
I'll be plan with you. I don't give a Fuck about your racial ideology and I don't give a fuck about whether I am the same race with you or not. Who the hell want to be the same race with somebody with you? Stop going around telling people you are a Han Chinese or everybody will start thinking, all Han Chinese are racist fuckers like you.
me juiweiYang2000's response:
Hopeless!
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
You have seriously been brain washed, by Israel's ideologies.
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
Black people ain't Han Chinese
me juiweiYang2000's response:
What are you? Uneducated? Your racial ideology are the one that is really the result of brainwashing, by the communist. What I am talking about here, are the true traditional ideology of the Chinese race. Traditional Chinese ideology, never have racial ideology, disallow judging a person by the colour of their skin. The racial ideology you are talking about today, are outdated western traditional ideology, brought into China, by the communist and the main stream ideology of modern Israel, where in Israel they believe only a Jew can be Isralian. As for the west, they over threw their racial ideology ages ago, the western world today, talk about multiculturalism. True Chinese traditional ideology, never see a person by the colour of their skin, in fact it is a sin, to see a person by the colour of their skin. That is why, even during the 19th century colonial age, the Chinese only say, "we don't like westerners", but you would never here they say "we don't like white people" Now, the west have abandon racial ideology, but here in Asia, some people from China are picking up racial ideology, what the fuck is this? You really want to be a real Han Chinese, go read Confuscious and Buddhism ideology, see how they condem racial ideology like your's to be a sin. Your words are a bunch of nonesense.
Racist guy xuzheng712 say:
You think a black person, can be a Han Chinese?
me juiweiYang2000's response:
Apart from the colour of her skin, she is 100% chinese. There are two definition of the term Chinese. The first definition, is a person with the DNA of the Chinese race, in that definition, this black girl, is half Chinese, because her mother is of this race. In this definition, anybody with the DNA of the Chinese race, is a Chinese. The second definition of the term Chinese is, a person whom is a member of this huge tribe, which establish their home on the geographichal terrotriory call China. So, how do you define whether a person is a member of this tribe. Same as, how you determine whether a person is the member of a basketball team, got nothing to do with this person's DNA, according to this definition, this girl is a 100% Chinese. By the way, i'll tell you what is the definition of the term of a Taiwanese, the first definition is a person, whom is a member of the huge tribe that set their home, upon the land call Taiwan, it can be of any race, culture and religious back ground. The second definition says, a person with the DNA of the Aboriginal Taiwanese. We have a saying at Taiwan [A Taiwanese can be a Chinese. Most Taiwanese are Chinese. But not all Taiwanese are Chinese or Abroiginal Taiwanese. And you don't have to be a Chinese or Aboriginal Taiwanese, to be a Taiwanese]
The racist guy, is yet to make a responding statment, maybe he never will make a responding statment.
While, a small majority of the Chinese from China who wrote statment in response to this Youtube video made racist comment. Most Chinese, including Chinese from China, condem the racism (thank god)
Also, it should be important to note, the ideology I stand in favor of, within this post is not westernization, but are conservative Chinese ideology. As I said right from the beginning of this article. Traditional Chinese ideology, has always been against racism, has no racial ideology and do not judge a person by the colour of their skin. Traditional Chinese ideology has always been judging a person, simply as a person and in traditional Chinese believe, the difference between a black person and a white person, is only as much as, a person with blue eye and a person with brown eye or a person blond hair and a person with red hair, nothing more. Highly influential ideology such as Confuscious ideology and Buddhism ideology, refer to racial stereotype or stereotype of any form as a sin. They also believe it is a sin to judge a person by the colour of their skin, of what class they are born in and it is a sin to judge a person through any other form of method, the only none sinful way to judge a person, is to judge a person as himself, as an individual. All other method of judgment are inappropriate. This ideology is still the mainstream ideology in all Chinese dominate nations, except China.
In China on the other hand, to secure their own power, the Communist brought in foreign traditional ideology, to replace the original Chinese traditional ideology. Including racial ideology, something that frequently exist in the traditional ideology of many western cultures.
For example, our own Australia traditional ideology believe Australia are suppose to be white and thus, things like the stolen generation took place.
Another problem with our western traditional ideology is to create an us and them. The "us" would be westerners and the "them" would be the none westerners, in the modern western world, this ideology is dead. But the Chinese Communist Party, brought this ideology to China too, with Han Chinese as the "us" and none Han Chinese as the "others". Even in foregin country, young Chinese who are been brainwashed to this ideology prefer to stick with their own and have limited contact with people of other race, but on the plus side, they are highly supportive towards people of their same race.
Another western tradtional ideology is for the "west to be the parent and none west to be the child", while this ideology is dying, I hate to inform that its influence still exist today, which is why quiet frequently when a none western country believe in ideologies such as equality, some western would mistaken it to be a form of westernization (kind of offensive, actually) but this is mostly because of the combination of the influence of (1)this problematic traditional ideology, (2)the fact many people in the west today, never been in none western countries (3)the fact during the 19th century was powerful and (4)the Greek who invented democratic government structure, is a western nation and democratic government structure is been widly used.
However, if you ask anybody who live in a none western country for a reasoable amount of time, they would tell you this ideology of "west as the parent and none west to be the child," is nothing more other then a bunch of mumbo jumbo none sense. And if you say to them the none west adopt Democratic government structure because they westernized, they would tell you it is a bunch of none sense, also. The usage of Democratic government structure, in none west, is because this government structure better serve a prior purpose. It is no different from for example, if one day aliens invent teleportation technology, we would adopt this technology to replace, some existing traveling technology, not because we are been influence by their ideology, but to use their technology to better serve our desire purpose, of getting from one place to another faster. Adopting of democratic government strucutre in the none west, is very much the same case, this new government structure, better serve a prior purpose.
While the Communist are not able to bring a believe for "the Han Chinese to be the parent and none Han Chinese to by the child" into China, due to the fact, China got their ass kicked by the Japanese during WW2 and got their ass kick by the west during the 19th Century colonial age, they did manage to bring in the similar ideology of "The Han Chinese to be the good and the none Han Chinese, especially the West and the Japanese, to be the evil." Simply by keeping the old anger towards Japan and the west alive and turning them from hate towards a nation with a particular set of policy, into racial haterate. As experts frequently say" Anger that come into existence due to demeaning thing done to you or your love ones, for no reason, is a powerful tool, to persuade a person to a distorted perspective."
After 50 years of Communist rule, its effect is starting to take place, amount some younger generation of Chinese, with Chinese youth, discriminating against none Chinese race. Fortunetly, even today, the effect of this new ideology introduce by the communist, can still only influence a small majority and only a handfull of young Chinese are racist, where the majority still maintain China's anti stereotyping history. Whether racism would continue to grow in China, within the future or will start to disappear, we can only wait and see.
After finish with this racist guy, I went online to look for Taiwan immgration law, for applying for Taiwanese citizenship. It says that, the legal definition of a Taiwanese, is a citizen of Taiwan and legal definition of a foreigner, is somebody who don't hold a Taiwan citizenship. Foreigner can apply for Taiwan citizenship after living in Taiwan for 3 year, if married to a Taiwan citizen, other wise can gain a citizenship after living in Taiwan for 5 year, if you have no criminal record and has skills to survive e.g. university qualification, otherwise anybody who live in Taiwan for over 10 year, are elligable to apply. (However, all applicant must have basic knowledge in regards to the legal right and responsibility of Taiwan citizen and must pass an exam to demostrate, Mandarine language skill)
This is the CNN News Report that I am talking about
I made this Youtube Video, about Taiwan citizenship law
Like most people from China, Lou Jing refuse to speak ill of her country, while facing foreigner and in an interview with US reporter, she avoid answering any question in regards to the racism she face in China
Apart from China, all other nation with Han Chinese as majority, aren't racist and are generally very multicultural society. The most multicultural is Singapore, (Singapore is also the most multicultural country in the world right now) the second most multicultural is Taiwan, follow by Hong Kong.
While I don't have satistic, base on my general impression, I would say, the most dominate race in Taiwan is Han Chinese, follow by White, None Chinese Asians, then India, then Black, we don't have too many people from the middel east though.
Two guys at Taiwan, playing a drinking game
In the variety show clip below, they are asking a whole bunch of new immigrant to Taiwan about the difference between Taiwan and their original country. In a list of ten topics
Fong Woo (turkey) Gai-Er Shoung (Russia) En-May Gin (Korea) Ze-Ling Ging (Korea) Ah Zhong (United States) Wai-Na Shan (Brazil)
(Don't ask me why, but a lot of people who migrate to Taiwan not only adopt Chinese first name, but Chinese last name too, very different from Australia where people at most adopt English first name)
Funniest joke in the segment Fong Woo say that Taiwanese people are very serious at work, where people at Turkey is very relax at work. In his last job, Fong Woo say, his friend ask him "how long have you been in Taiwan" and Fong Woo joke "I came to this country with Zhan-Kai Shek" and the other guy said "No, I don't think so. You don't look that old"
Funniest joke in the segment, Fong Woo say "I found the best way a white guy, can get out of a traffic ticket with the cops. Pretend you can't speak Chinese. I try this all the time. The cops ask me, why did you ran a red light. I just say 'No speak Mandarine' and then start speaking in Turkey and the cops will just wave me off."
Wai-Na Shan says, I know, there is a bridge that can make it faster for me to get home, motocycle aren't allow to go onto it. But I take the bridge anyway. Then once I got caught by the cops and I just say 'oh, sorry, I can't read the traffic sign. I can't read Chinese and the cops just let me go."
Then Ah Zhong said "This doesn't work with me. There was once I just finish class and drove out of Uni and the cops was checking people for driving license. I pretend I can't speak Mandarine and the cops go 'I know you can speak Mandarine. If you don't speak Mandarine. I'll give you a ticket.' and I right away go 'ok, sorry, sorry, sorry. I'll show you my license right away"
And the host goes "of course the cops know, they saw you walk out of Uni, of course Uni students can speak Chinese."
Funniest joke this segment Fong Woo say "Taiwan have so many 7/11. I think pretty soon, there will be a 7/11 opening up in my living room too."
Second funniest joke "After living in Taiwan for so long, when I return to Canada, there is one thing about Canada I can't get use to anymore. NO 7/11!!! I have go to that place to do one thing, then another place to do another thing, at Taiwan, I get everything from 7/11"
Third funniest joke "When 7/11 first began, it means it open at 7 and close at eleven. Then it became 24 hour. Now 7/11 stands for you can go from one 7/11 to another 7/11 in only 7 to 11 steps"
