Churchill's German Army

May 30th 2010 17:42
Millions of soldiers fought against Hitler’s Germany in WW2, but one group of men and women sacrificed everything in the battle against the Nazis. They knew they could be tortured and executed as traitors if captured but were still willing to die for their adopted country. Hear from the only known German fighter pilot in the RAF, a tank driver originally from Bonn who survived the Dachau concentration camp yet was among the first Allied troops to capture Hamburg, and the veteran who shot the infamous Lord Haw Haw in the buttocks.

While, most department of the Afghanistan defence force are struggling to meet the basic standard require for soldiers, the training of Afghan Special Forces and Commando has reflected itself to be successful and is assume someday they would be a even better Commando and Spcial forces unit then the Americans who train them, despite the fact the rest of the Afghan army is struggling to even meet the basic standard require of soldiers.

Ok, here is my opinoin, well George Bush campaign frequently refers to the war in Afghanistan as "War against Terror" and "War against Muslim Extremist", personally I think those are confusing term that create more problems. In my opinoin, a more suitable term would be "War against Taliban", "War against Al Quida" and "War against Osama Bin Ladin."

This is because firstly, our current enemy are the Taliban, Bin Ladin and Al Quida, not Muslim. Secondly, the question is what qualify as a Muslim extremeist and are all people who qualify as Muslim extremist qualify as Terrorist? Three not all terrorist are Muslims. Four, while some people might believe that Muslim is a problematic religion, even if those people are right, not all of those informations are relevant to the issue at stake here and maybe none of those information are relevant to the issue at stake here, in relationsip to our war in Afghanistan, against Taliban, Al Quida or Bin Ladin and it doesn't necessary mean they are our enemy. This is especially considering the fact we do have allies amount Muslim nations, in our war against the Talibans.

But that is my opinion only

Cheers

World War Two veteran Robert McCombe has been chosen to represent New Zealanders at the dedication of a new statue at Sydney's Anzac Bridge.

Mr McCombe, a life time member of the RSA, will be accompanied by the Prime Minister when the bronze statue of a World War One soldier is dedicated next Tuesday.

"It is an extreme honour, as far as I'm concerned, to be chosen to represent the Second World War people at a function such as that," Mr McCombe said.

Should the church and the state remain seperate?

That is an interesting question to think about. A lot of countries allows their dominate religion to also influence the legal structure of their goverment, others allow religion to have very little influence. This is disregards to whether they are a religious state or not.

Iran and Afghanistan for example, both declare themselves as a Islamic state, where Trukish on the other hand declare themselves to be a none religous state and insist that the state and the church should remain seperate and women are not to allow to wear the Muslim head cover in university.

In the US and Asutralia for example, despite the fact we are not religious state, we still see religion having a certain level of influence over the legal system or how some people want to see the system function.

For example, in both the US and Australia the President and Prime Minister are sworn into office on a Bible and in court we swear that we say "The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." on a Bible also, despite the fact we are not religious state.

Homophobia in the US especially, want to pass law to illgalize homosexaulity, because they believe it is a sin according to Christianity (Personally, I highly doubt it qualify as a sin in Christianlity) This is despite the fact the United States is not a Catholic state or a religous state of some form.

Taiwan and Trukish are probably two state where the state and the church are successfully seperated, base on my knowledge.

At Taiwan, for example the President is sworn into office upon the constitute rather then on a religous menu of some form and despite the fact Buddhism is the dominate religion, it have no effect, on the govermenance of the state. However, that might also be the result of the fact that Taiwan is a typical post modern cuntry, which have little regards to conservative values.

Turkish base on my knowledge, insist that the state and relgion must be seperated and disallow religions to have influence over the state.and base on my knowledge, although Muslim is the dominate religion in Turkish, Turkish doesn't allow female university student ot wear Muslim head scarf on university campus, as a result of the insisting for state and religion to remain sperate.

So, the question here is, should the state and the church remain 100% seperate?

It is also overly optimistic when it comes to the terms of trade.

The CFMEU said today that it was critical of training standards across unregulated sections of the building and construction industry.

The union’s comments follow the tragic deaths of four young workers involved in the Federal Government’s Home Insulation Scheme.

CFMEU Construction National Secretary Dave Noonan said the union had raised concerns about the level of training around the scheme through its involvement in the government’s Home Insulation Scheme steering committee.

“The union has long held concerns about safety standards among unregulated sections of the building and construction industry. These are concerns that we have consistently raised,” Mr Noonan said.

“Better unionised sections of the construction industry do have better safety records but more needs to be done to minimize risk to workers, especially younger workers.

“What’s needed now is better regulation in this area and a regulator with some real teeth.

“Today we have seen plenty of posturing by the Liberal party on this issue but the reality is when they were in power they did absolutely nothing to tackle safety.

“Rather, the Liberal party did everything in their power to take away the workers’ rights to proper safety in an industry like construction where on average a worker is killed every week.

“Right now we need every Member of Parliament to stop posturing and get serious about safety in the building and construction industry and to support tough legislation and enforcement of safety standards.”

Thai security forces backed by armoured vehicles advanced on the 'Red Shirt' anti-government protesters' camp in Bangkok and opened fire on Wednesday, in what a senator said would be a 'decisive' crackdown.

As reports were coming in that an armoured vehicle had tried to ram into the protest zone barricade in Bangkok in bid to break it and two people were believed to be shot, the senator involved in failed last-minute peace talks warned of 'unbearable' loss of life.

AUSTRALIAN workers will be better off to the tune of up to $108,000 at the end of their working lives after the Federal Government confirmed it would introduce a big new tax on mining companies.

Employers will be required to increase their superannuation contribution from 9 per cent to 12 per cent by 2019-20.

The changes, which are the Government's response to the Henry tax review, will be phased in over seven years starting in 2013, and will give employees who are aged 30 an extra $108,000 in super savings, the Government estimates.

Anti-government protesters in Bangkok have been ordered to leave their fortified camp in the Thai capital.

Loudspeakers, TV announcements and mobile phone messages were used to warn the protesters they should leave by 1500 (0800 GMT).

Few protesters appear to be heeding the call and it remains unclear what may happen next - as soldiers shoot live rounds to try to contain the protest.

Violence since Thursday has left 36 dead, and some 250 injured.

Renegade Thai general Khattiya Sawasdipol died on Monday, five days after being shot as he spoke to reporters about his backing for the protest movement.

The government said on Monday it would talk to the protesters as long as they showed "sincerity" by leaving their camp.

The protest leaders, for their part, have offered UN-mediated talks on condition the government pulls back its troops.

The story revolve around a Mr Nice Guy/ Computer Nerd, name Chuck who is stuck in a dead end job. When Chuck's buddy from university who is now a CIA agent, sent Chuck all goverment secret within an Email before he die, Chuck became the only person who knows all the goverment secret in the world.

Since then, his quiet life was been turned up side down. Firstly, he was been approach by a sexy girl name Sara, who is totally into him, but turns out to really be an under cover CIA agent and then there were people trying to assessnate him and then all in a sudden Chuck and Sara have to work together to defeat an assessnation attempt on a US General.

The show began in 2007 in the US but it only go to air this year in Australia.

A NEW Zealand hiking trip hit an early snag for Pauline Hanson when she was detained by Kiwi immigration officials.
"I felt terribly embarrassed," Hanson told Woman's Day.

“They have a card that asks if you’ve had a criminal conviction of more than 12 months, so of course I had to tick yes. It didn’t ask whether the conviction had been quashed," she said.

"I was taken to another room and asked to 'please explain' about my time in jail."

“I explained I was Australia’s first political prisoner,” she laughs.

Her time in the clink was due to that Queensland conviction in 2003 for electoral fraud before it was quashed by the Court of Appeal.
