Mugabe Votes for himself and Wins.
vote4
Accurate

Mugabe votes for himself,
The vote is counted,
One vote is enough and he wins.
He then proceeds to swear himself in,
Where he swears himself in as president,
He celebrates himself and

Has a big party for himself.

Why should anyone complain?

Burma Manga Magic for Aung San Suu Kyi.

For a time it was claimed that people were only really famous if they were written up on wiki but not it seems that you can do one better. When you are immortalized in Manga Anime it seems that you have become larger than life.

This is precisely what has happened with Aung San Suu Kyi, the political leader and Nobel Prize Winner, who has been under house arrest in Burma for the past decade. A comic first written in 1994 has been released in English for the first time.

The title of the comic book is:
burma
The Fighting Peacock? Cover of the Manga version of Aung San Suu Kyi's life
: Tatakau Kujaku (“Aung San Suu Kyi: The Fighting Peacock”), by cartoonist Akazu Mizuha. Orders can be made on line via the Irrawaddy New Web Site for a cost of US$3.00 for individuals and US$30.00 for institutes with profits going to Burma Relief Activities. See this site for more information: Really Long Link

Manga has long been the in the realm of fantasy and escapism may have such social relevance that it can tackle social and political issues directly.

Mugabe Runs Unopposed but without his Knighthood
clothe
But the true criminal is his talor

Robert Mugabe is betting on sure thing as he enters into an election runoff without any opposition. The situation in Zimbabwe has become so violent that opposition candidate Morgan Tsvangirai has decided to boycott the elections.

The pre-election violence in Zimbabwe has been increasing as government forces have been systematically terrorizing and intimidating people.

Even election observers have not been spared the wrath as shown by this statement by the independent Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) said that it was “gravely concerned about the safety of its observers given the deliberate targeting”.

Meanwhile international pressure does not seem to be effecting the behaviour of the Mugabe regime.

On a positive not however, The Queen has removed the Knighted that she bestowed upon him a decade ago.
The decision was announced by the British Foreign Office Wednesday as a “mark of revulsion” at the human rights abuses and “abject disregard” for democracy over which he has presided.

How to write a Post filled with Rhetoric and Semantics
daleki
Even the greatest bloggers need a bit of time off to chill with some mp3's
You need to have the attitude that the world should worship your utterances as the Orange people did for the Bhagwan. Even your burps are a more blogworthy attempt to save the world than everyone else. Yet despite all this creative genius why aren’t you revered as an intellectual giant? Perhaps you need to spice you efforts with a little Rhetoric mixed with some home grown Semantics. Here are some pointers.

You Cannot Blame all Oil Price Problems on The Arabs.

OPEC Revenue

OPEC is a business for want of a better word. It is designed to maximize profit for the member nations. It is not a charity and will not begin to act like a charity any time in the future. As much as we do not like it the oil it presides over belongs to the members of OPEC and it is theirs to dispose of how they wish. The argument is no different for any other natural resource or commodity owned by any other nation on the planet. The possessor of the commodities will always be looking to maximize profits. The OPEC mentality of ever increasing oil prices could be summed up by the deposed Shah of Iran in a 1973 interview to the New York Times

No Vendor is More Special than Another
m
I am Certified. How can you tell?

Time to put my It hat back on. I usually leave off whilst blogging for a number of reason: one is that I get paid to write IT reports and Orble cannot afford me; another is that the supporting data for many serious claims is valuable in the market place so I am not such a fool to bite the hand that feeds me; the third reason is that any claim in IT attracts a Nerd Flame War. Nerd Flame War are no different than any other flame war because “the crapth dost floweth free” from the mouths of novices whereas the experienced tend to be less verbose. Rather than a discussion about the merits of a new technology we end up with competition not unlike whether Holden or Ford make better cars or which team in the footy is best. In some parts of the industry there are saying that are designed as a reality check for over enthusiastic ego maniac such as: Now you have finally qualified you may think you are King Shit, but the day you start work you will realize that you Shit amongst Kings. Charming statement, crass but completely true

The Limit of Wishful Thinking

The Limit of Wishful Thinking
ned
Ned is dead.

We may have all heard that “where there is a will there is a way” and that there is no such thing as “Can’t”. Yet despite all this positive aura and complimentary energy guff we are still left with the stark reality of knowing that we have limitations. We can will the table to move but for some reason the table does not move. Damn those laws of physics that hold that table in place and damn the person who invented them. We were happier not knowing and living in the blind belief that tables can be lifted with the power of the mind

Cults and Terrorism: A comparison.

We can make many comparisons that are just ridiculous or we can make some that are actually to the point. Few things seem on the surface to be so different as a cult and a terrorist organization but deeper down there are many similarities

US Supreme Court Restores Habeas Corpus for Gitmo
gitmo
Detainees at Gitmo now fall within the reach of the US legal System.

In a decision of 5 to 4 the US Supreme court has decided that it is unconstitutional for prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. This is a direct rebuke of the Bush Administrations Military Tribunal Process who had been holding some prisoners without trail for over 6 years. The writ of Habeas Corpus which was denied to prisoners at Gitmo, including Australia’s David Hicks and Habib, allows detainees to appeal to the court system to test the legality of their detention

Musharraf trying to hang on to power in Pakistan and the Lawyers are mad
lawyers
You have to respect it when people dress up in suits and ties to protest. Makes a change from the dredlocks and hippy clothes.

It was a humiliating election defeat that left the Pakistani President Musharraf almost powerless. He had earlier resigned from his position as Military head of command and had to face up to the new reality that he was now a civilian. His party has lost the majority in the parliament and it is fair to say that he lost public support a long time ago. It is not that military coupes require much public support but like all use of force it is limited in what it can do. Yet despite earlier this year giving every indication that he was about to bow to pressure and resign he has now decided to stay on. This is despite his declaration to journalist on Pakistani television news some time back "I am not tendering resignation now." He also added “I will keep watching. I can't become a useless vegetable," and "Parliament is supreme. Whatever it will decide will be accepted by me ... but I will not like to try to be uselessly around

Recollections from 1989 – Sri Lanka

More than anything this was my protection from danger.

It seems like not so long ago. Yet the passage of time which seems so rapid does obscure old memories with new minor crisis. After sitting and drinking and laughing with in laws you can recall the vast difference between what was then and what is now. What is the differences that can be noticed between then and now in Sri Lanka. Perhaps sitting around and laughing about the past shows the difference
